Hybrid – 3 Days WFO
This position will be responsible for installing, upgrading, and configuring z/OS and CICS environments.
Additionally, you will be responsible for the administration and support for RACF, SMS, HSM, and other system software (including performance and capacity management).
You will be responsible for troubleshooting all system software issues to determine root cause and to
come up with a plan to resolve the issue and to implement a fix. You will be responsible for monitoring the mainframe environment using ISV monitoring products to identify issues, build alerting, and automation to help keep the environment healthy.
This position also requires the ability to support, install, and upgrade various ISV products from vendors such as CA/Broadcom, BMC, Rocket Software, and others. This position will partner with Engineers, Information Security, and business application subject matter experts, to configure the environment to define standards. This position supports our 24×7 technology operations and does require On-Call responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Serves as a proficient technical resource; provides tech knowledge and capabilities as subject matter expert.
- Provides problem determination and resolution, installs and updates newly developed software
to assigned systems. - Responsible for the operating system and associated subsystems
- Provides system-level support of multi-user operating systems, hardware, and software tools,
including installation, configuration, and maintenance. - Identifies alternatives for optimizing computer resources.
- Collects information to analyze and evaluate existing or proposed systems.
- Researches, plans, installs, configures, troubleshoots, maintains, and upgrades hardware and software interfaces with the operating system.
- Writes and maintains system documentation
Requirements:
- 7 – 15 years of experience in mainframe systems programming role.
- Strong understanding and possess working knowledge of IBM Mainframe z/OS operating
system, control, structure, logic and RACF security. - Experience with IBM z/OS system and subsystem software and components with experience to
support, develop and enhance tools and methodologies for managing large scale global
deployment. - Extensive understanding of IBM enterprise server hardware and facilities
- Strong knowledge and experience with SMP/E, JES2, JCL, ISPF dialog management, REXX.
- Must be proficient with problem determination, analysis, and resolution
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science or similar degree or experience required
- Desired Skills
- Experience with wide range of IBM and ISV product and vendor installation support tools.
- Experience with IBM Assembler
- Experience with System Automation, Performance Monitoring, Communication Server, CICS,
DB2, Batch Scheduling, Change Management, Storage Management, ISPF dialog development HTML - Information Technology degree
- Certifications in:
- SMP/E including Planning for z/OS
- z/OS Installation
- z/OS Configuration and Customization / z/OS Maintenance Best Practices with z Systems
- TSO / ISPF / USS / JCL / REXX
- JES2 / Security (RACF)
- z/OS Performance and Tuning with Workload Manger (WLM)
- CICS Transaction Management
- DB2 Database Management
- TCP/IP and VTAM Networking (Communications Server)
